East African Famine and Drought- http://worldpress.org/Africa/719.cfm
Famine is a result to the lack of rain. Farmers are trying to plant trees to produce food, but the lack of rain is causing the seeds to die and be useless. African leaders went to the June World Food Summit in Rome to practically beg for food. Argues that land is being used too much for building towns instead of nonfood crops. “many African leaders have failed to find any meaningful solution to the problem of harmonizing all these disparate land uses for sustainable development.”
There was a giant surplus of maize in Kenya, but the famine continued. Believed that the government could possibly holding the food.
